Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with how to use the VeriNav search capability:
Begin by selecting of any of four search criteria:
- Geography (beginning with a Region)
- Vendor
- Category (i.e. keyword
- Time frame (When)
Every time you make a selection from one of the drop boxes, the remaining drop boxes are automatically
updated. This means that you can never perform a query which does not result in a valid result!
It is not necessary to use all criteria in making your selections. You will always get the fullest complement
of details by using only the geographic criteria.
Note, that when performing a geographic query, you may stop anywhere along the line. In other words,
you may look at entries for just Europe (or any Region) or just Europe and France (i.e. any Region and
Area), for example.
Whenever you have satisfied the minimum entry requirements, the Search button becomes operable. If a dropdown
box is marked "Select," you must make a selection from that dropdown box before proceeding. Pushing
the Search button will present the results of your search in a new window. At any time you may go back
to the original window to modify or restart your query. You could, for example, look at entries for
Europe-France and then go back to add Paris. Or, you could change countries, or locations etc. as often
as you like! Each time you press the Search button, the results will appear in the results window that
was opened for your first set of results.
As an alternative to using the drop boxes, you may use the Find link located next to the Region
box title. This is especially useful if you are not sure where a place is located (for example, that
Bali is in Indonesia or Mexico is part of North America). This feature uses incremental typing, so after
you enter at least 4 characters, suggestions will begin to appear. The more characters you enter, the shorter
the list of suggestions becomes. If there are no matching articles, no suggestions will appear.
Click on any item appearing in the suggestion box and and you will immediately
be taken to that article. You may enter either a location, or a keyword query. For a location query, just type
the location. For a keyword query, enter a ? followed by the words or phrases (enclosed in double quotes) you
want to search for. The suggestion list my be resized for easier viewing by using the resize handle in the
lower right corner.
You may also navigate through the site using the regions listed on either side of the map at the bottom
of the VeriNav home page.
